For NYC observation decks, I’d recommend late afternoon through sunset for the most variety in your gallery.
  • 1–1.5 hours before sunset: Soft, flattering natural light and clear skyline views.
  • Around sunset: Warm light and dramatic colors across the city.
  • 20–30 minutes after sunset: Great for the transition to blue hour, with the city lights coming on.
  • Morning: Best if you want fewer crowds and cleaner backgrounds.
